For a while I was operating under the model that after I open a girl by tapping her on the elbow, we must both stop and talk to each other. Today I had a set where I tapped her and continued walking with her. We later stopped and I # closed her. Hmm! I think this idea is worth exploring. If she is walking in an opposite direction to me, you need real strength to maker her stop and talk. A better way that works in Singapore and enunciated by both CoolTam and SheunOfTheDead is that you must let her pass, turn around, follow her till we are both in a reasonable uncrowded area and then tap her on the elbow. This is better because it is less confrontational than a full frontal stop. So there is less violence. Now there is even less violence if I deliver my opener while walking. Ofcourse sometimes the girl stops of her own volition and it’s better to stop. But sometimes it’s clear she would prefer to walk. In that case, walk with her. As you engage her more and engage her well, you will be able to lead by stopping yourself. She too will stop.
